Donations and membership fees are used to pay for public election records from Florida’s 67 counties; pay rent for our office space, utilities, phone, and office supplies; and reimburse travel expenses to staff members for trips to counties to inspect public records, to speak to organizations around the state on election-integrity issues, to attend election conferences, and for trips to Tallahassee to meet with legislators. We have also paid a small retainer fee to an attorney in preparation for legal actions against those counties or state offices that refuse to provide public records or that charge an exorbitant fee for those records.
We monitor elections, analyze election audit logs, investigate official misconduct, write reports on our findings, and rally citizens to participate in the democratic process. We follow proposed legislation in the Florida Legislature and U.S. Congress, advocate for fair election procedures, and write editorials for newspapers and other publications. We study election law, voting system certification standards, election procedures, and election problems in Florida and around the nation, with the goal of finding solutions.
We study accessibility issues, voter suppression tactics, federal and state standards, and more.
We are non-partisan in our efforts because we believe that partisanship in election-related matters is inappropriate andf one of the failings of our current system. Fair elections are for ALL citizens regardless of their party affiliation.
No one on our staff has ever received a salary, but we hope to change that to make FFEC become an ongoing and sustainable organization.
We hope you will support our efforts. Thank you very much for your donation.
